Hwy 53 project begins final season of work

Hwy 53 relocation between Eveleth and Virginia: 2015-2017 construction

Hwy 53 project begins final season of work
As the weather turns warmer, work is ramping up on the Highway 53 relocation project!
In the next few weeks, workers will continue to build the deck for the bridge over Rouchleau pit.
Over the last month, crews have placed formwork, which will temporarily support the concrete bridge deck until it cures and develops strength to support itself. Starting this week, they will begin placing the reinforcement bar for the deck, which is scheduled to be poured in May and June. Workers also will begin installing water and sewer lines on the underside of the bridge. Crews are also building the formwork for the concrete deck on the Highway 135 bridge.
Work on the roadway is set to begin near the end of the month. Crews will move the traffic on Highway 53 to the southbound lanes the week of April 10 in preparation for the reconstruction of the northbound lanes. That work should be complete in August.
Crews will conduct periodic lane closures on Hwy 53 on the north end of the project while building crossovers and widening the roadway in spots. This work will prepare for a work on Highway 135, which will be closed and detoured in late April until late July. That detour is on a project road, which includes some of the old Mineview road. A map will be available on the project website next week.

Don’t forget! Ramp from westbound Hwy 10 to north bound I-35W in Arden Hills closes Monday, April 3

Ramp from westbound Hwy 10 to northbound I-35W in Arden Hills closes Monday, April 3

Youll need to find an alternate route to reach Interstate 35W from westbound Hwy 10 next Monday when the ramp to northbound Interstate 35W closes at 9 a.m. Monday, April 3. The ramp will remain closed and detoured through the end of August 2017.
The ramp, located on the Highway 10 diagonal between I-694 and I-35W, will close so construction crews can realign and shift traffic onto a new ramp bridge at the interchange. A second ramp will be built under the new ramp to carry northbound I-35W traffic to Ramsey County Road H. It also will provide direct access to the Rice Creek Commons [ http://www.ricecreekcommons.com/?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ] development on the site of the former Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP).
During the summer-long closure, you will need to detour west on I-694 to reach northbound I-35W. If you are traveling west on County Road 96 you will have to continue westbound past the Highway 10 ramp to reach I-35W.
Reconstruction of the interchange at I-35W and County Road H was completed in the fall of 2016 and features roundabouts at each end of the new County Road H bridge. County Road H now features a new wider bridge overI-35Wwith two traffic lanes in each direction and a regional trail for bicycles and pedestrians.

County Road H over I-35W in Mounds View: 2016-2017 construction

Project work details
Ramp fromwestbound Hwy 10 to northbound I-35W in Arden Hills closes Mon, April 3
As work continues on two new ramps at the south junction of Hwy 10 and I-35W in Arden Hills, we will close the ramp from westbound Hwy 10 to northbound I-35W beginning at 9 a.m. Mon, April 3. The ramp will remain closed and detoured through the end of August.
The ramp, located on the Hwy 10 diagonal between I-694 and I-35W, will close so construction crews can finish building a new ramp to carry that traffic over a second ramp that will be built this year. The second ramp will allow northbound I-35W traffic to reach Co Rd H.
If you are traveling west on Co Rd 96, you will have to continue westbound past the Hwy 10 ramp to reach I-35W.
Project work completed in 2016
Reconstruction of the interchange at I-35W and Co Rd H was completed in the fall of 2016 and features roundabouts at each end of the new Co Rd H bridge. Co Rd H now includes a new wider bridge overI-35Wwith two traffic lanes in each direction and a regional trail for bicycles and pedestrians.

Ramp closures will start Hwy 58 bri dge replacement in Zumbrota April 10

AHwy 52/Hwy 58 interchange in Zumbrota: 2017-2018 construction

Ramp closures will start Hwy 58 bridge replacement in Zumbrota April 10
Construction season is about to begin and we wanted to be sure you were aware of a project along Highway 52 at Zumbrota that might affect your travels beginning in April.
Motorists using the northbound Highway 52 exit at Highway 58 in Zumbrota will be detoured beginning April 10 for approximately three weeks, while crews prepare a bypass road at the interchange.
The work is the start of the replacement of the Highway 58 bridge over Highway 52. The project will also improve connections for pedestrians and bicyclists across the bridge, traffic flow off of Hwy 52 and the length of the uphill acceleration lane onto southbound Highway 52.
The construction that begins in April will require motorists seeking to exit northbound Highway 52 onto Highway 58 or the roadways west of the interchange to travel north to the Highway 60 west exit. Motorists should follow detour signs during this phase. Motorists seeking to access the west side of the Highway 58 interchange will return to Highway 52 and take the southbound lanes to the exit at Highway 58. This will also be the detour route for Hwy 58 north access except for a short period of time.
Additional ramp closures and detours are planned during the project, which is expected to open the new bridge for traffic in the fall.
Hoffman Construction Company of Black River Falls, Wis., is the prime contractor for the $5.6 million project.

I-94 between Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center: 2017 construction

Lane closure details
Motorists will see lane reductions overnight while crews remove concrete in the westbound Lowry Tunnel on I-94 in Minneapolis.
Starting Monday, March 27, the westbound half of the Lowry Tunnel will be reduced to two lanes at 8 p.m. and to one lane by 10 p.m. The tunnel should reopen daily by 6 a.m. These restrictions could be in place through Thu, Mar. 30.
Restrictions also will remain on the eastbound side of the Lowry Tunnel through Sunday and potentially Monday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. If eastbound side work is required Monday, it should be no more than an hour or two and then will shift to the westbound side. While crews work in the eastbound tunnel, the eastbound I-394 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The concrete removal in the tunnel is expected to be done by the end of next week.
This work is in preparation to shift both directions of traffic into one side of the tunnel. Traffic will be shifted in mid- to late-May while bridge and tunnel work requires crews to close the westbound tunnel.
In addition to the tunnel work, on Mon, March 27, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will close from I-694 in Brooklyn Center to Seventh St. in Minneapolis. Traffic will eventually be reduced to two lanes in both directions of I-94 through the fall.

– I-94 St. Paul to Maplewood: 2016-17 construction

Project details
Road crews on I-94 in the east metro are set to begin their second construction season in just a few short weeks.
If youre traveling on I-94 between St. Paul and Maplewood, youll encounter major traffic changes on the interstate while the project work is going on.
Motorists should expect lane restrictions in both directions, traffic delays, and temporary exit/entrance ramp closures. Drivers will have at least two travel lanes in each direction during construction.
Theres a lot of work to do and itll be a tight schedule, but crews expect to complete the work by late-fall.
To ease some of the traffic congestion, crews will use a moveable barrier and designated lanes to move vehicles through the construction zone during the work.
