Hwy 52 roundabout in Cannon Falls: 2017 construction

Concrete work continues on County Rd 24 median ends
Work was slowed by cold weather and rain last week. Each phase is dependent on allowing the concrete the correct curing time so its strong enough for traffic to drive on it. Work has been delayed as crews wait for the curing of the concrete to the required strength. Work will continue on Phase 2 this week.
*This week at County Rd 24*
* Crews will saw cut and remove concrete at the ends of the medians. Two will be removed at a time on each of the outer roundabouts to help maintain traffic. * Crews will pour new concrete at the end of the medians for the new configuration. * Work is expected to last approximately 10 working days for this phase andwill be completed during daylight hours. * Traffic remains open at all times with short delays. * Flaggers will direct traffic during working hours.

Northside Hwy 52 ramps at Hwy 58 in Zumbrota to close as other ramps reopen

Hwy 52/Hwy 58 interchange in Zumbrota: 2017-2018 construction

Northside Hwy 52 ramps at Hwy 58 in Zumbrota to close as other ramps reopen
Motorists on Hwy 58 andHwy52 at Zumbrota will encounter two ramp closures beginning today (Tuesday, May 9) while two other ramps reopen.
The northbound Hwy 52 off-ramp at Hwy 58 is scheduled to reopen later today. Crews had been building a temporary bypass road to maintain access during construction to businesses on the east side of the interchange. Last Friday, the Hwy 60 east interchange at Hwy 52 reopened to traffic. Crews have paved and widened an area of Hwy 60 east of Hwy 52 to allow a turnaround area for traffic to use during the next detour.
The next detour will begin this evening when two ramps are closed on the north side of the Hwy 52-Hwy 58 interchange: the southbound Hwy 52 off-ramp and the northbound Hwy 52 on-ramp.
The detour for those closures is to go southbound to the Hwy 60 east exit. Once motorists have crossed under Hwy 52 there is a widened and paved area for motorists to turn around and take the Hwy 60 east ramp onto Hwy 52 northbound to then proceed to the Hwy 58 exit at Zumbrota. The Hwy 58 bridge remains open and motorists can connect to the west side businesses and county road via the bridge after exiting Hwy 52 northbound.

Concrete decks will be built next week for Hwy 53 bridges

MnDOT logo D1 – Hwy 53 relocation between Eveleth and Virginia: 2015-2017 construction

Concrete decks will be built next week for Hwy 53 bridges
*VIRGINIA, Minn. *Concrete will be flowing in the coming weeks when crews begin pouring bridge decks on the Highway 53 relocation project.
Workers have been installing stainless steel reinforcing bar and building concrete forms on the Rouchleau Pit bridge for several weeks, according to Pat Huston, project director. He anticipates they will begin pouring that bridge deck this week.
Huston added that crews are installing rebar and building concrete forms on the Highway 135 bridge. He anticipates crews will begin pouring the concrete deck sometime in the next two weeks.
The Highway 135 detour route is still in effect and provides motorists with a more direct route to and from Virginia. The new detour route will be along Mineview Road and Highway 135.
Traffic on westbound Highway 135 will not be able to access southbound Highway 53. Highway 53 traffic remains with a single lane in each direction on southbound Highway 53. That single lane traffic will run from Midway Road to a half-mile north of Second Avenue in Virginia. Crews are reconstructing northbound Highway 53 and building the new Highway 53/Highway 135 interchange. This work will be completed in August.
