Road closure slated as part of Hwy 53 project

Hwy 53 relocation between Eveleth and Virginia: 2015-2017 construction

Road closure slated as part of Hwy 53 project
We thought you’d like to know that roadwork will begin in earnest next week on the Highway 53 relocation project.
On April 17, Highway 135 will close between Highway 53 and Bourgin Road. Traffic will be detoured on Highway 53 to Eveleth and on Highway 37 to Gilbert. A map will be available on the project website next week. Motorists should follow the directions from the detour signs.
The Highway 135 closure and detour will remain in place until mid-August, 2017. The detour route will change and become shorter on April 22.
Also on April 17, Bourgin Road will close at the junction of Highway 135, though it will be open to local residents from Highway 53 at Midway. Residents must access their homes from the Midway end of Bourgin Road. This condition will be in place until mid-August.
Intermittent lane closures will continue on Highway 53 next week as crews continue to prepare to move all traffic on the roadway to the southbound lanes on April 22.
Workers continue to assemble the deck for the bridge over Rouchleau pit. The concrete for the deck is scheduled to be poured in May and June. Workers continue to install water and sewer lines on the underside of the pit bridge and build the formwork for the concrete deck on the Highway 135 bridge.

Hwy 52/Hwy 58 interchange in Zumbrota: 2017-2018 construction

Hwy 60 east detours begin April 19 near Zumbrota for Hwy 58 bridge project
More traffic changes are coming up next week near Zumbrota. You will encounter road closures and detours as work on the Highway 58 bridge replacement advances.
On April 19, the Highway 60 east interchange at Highway 52 will be closed and detoured as crews replace drain pipes at the interchange. Additional work is expected at the interchange to build areas to accommodate an upcoming detour. During this Highway 60 east closure, the detours will be:
* Motorists on Highway 52 north and south who want to use Highway 60 east will exit at Pine Island to use Goodhue County Road 11 to Mazeppa, where it connects with Highway 60 east. * Motorists traveling west on Highway 60 on the east side of Highway 52 will be detoured north at Mazeppa on Wabasha County Road 12 to Wabasha County Road 1 north to Goodhue County Road 16 west to Highway 58 south to Zumbrota where Highway 52 connects them with Highway 60 west.
The interchange is expected to open May 5, weather permitting.
Also, a planned weekend closing of Highway 58 at Highway 52 in Zumbrota will be delayed until April 22-23. Original plans called for the closure on April 15-16. During the April 22-23 closure, crews will be installing a sanitary sewer across Highway 58.
You may use the Highway 52 north off-ramp to access the west side of Highway 52, but Highway 58 into Zumbrota will be detoured. Highway 52 motorists can use the Highway 60 west exit. You can connect to the east with Highway 58 via Jefferson Drive. Highway 58 motorists can use Jefferson to get to Highway 52.
After the weekend work is completed, the northbound Highway 52 off ramp will be closed April 24-26 while crews complete a temporary bypass road to connect motorists with Highway 58 and adjacent businesses. If you use the ramp, you’ll be detoured north on Highway 52 to the Highway 60 west exit, where you can return to Highway 52 south to the Highway 58 exit. The bridge remains open.

Hwy 10 from Hwy 59 to Summit Ave in Detroit Lakes: 2017 construction

Hwy 10 bridge and resurfacing project begins April 17
The Hwy 10 bridge replacement and resurfacing project between Hwy 59 and Summit Avenue is set to begin Monday, April 17, when crews begin setting up lane closures and traffic shifts around the eastbound Hwy 10 bridge over CP Railway.
For the next several months, Hwy 10 will be reduced to a single lane through the west side of Detroit Lakes. The initial traffic shifts will be between Hwy 59 and Summit Avenue. However, when prep work for the resurfacing part of the project begins, traffic shifts will be adjusted outward. Intermittent delays are possible on Hwy 10 during peak traffic times during the week. We expect significant delays on Fridays and Sundays during the summer.
While crews demolish the existing bridge, nearby residents and businesses may notice additional noise during daylight hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We will send out email updates as conditions change for this project.

Closure details
If youre traveling on Interstate 694 between Lexington Avenue in Arden Hills and I-35E in Vadnais Heights next week, you may encounter lane closures as construction crews begin preliminary work to add a third lane to the eastbound interstate. Traffic on the westbound lanes will be reduced to two lanes on Tuesday, April 11. At the same time the ramp from Rice Street to westbound I-694 will close and be detoured for the construction season.
Early the week of April 16th, eastbound travelers will be moved into two lanes of traffic separated by a concrete median barrier. When traveling eastbound, you will need to choose a lane at the beginning of the work zone. If you use the left lane you will be unable to exit the interstate between Lexington Avenue and I-35E. Drivers in the right lane will be able to exit the freeway as usual.
